I had no prior experience hiring a catering company and was somewhat overwhelmed with the options and decisions to make at the time. To my delight I found Joshua after a short conversation I had found the perfect place to cater my mothers memorial service. My mother was a wonderful cook and I knew she would be pleased that Joshua was familiar with her favorite cookbook. The choices were wonderful, the prices were reasonable, the presentation was excellent. I was very happy with my choice.

Josh, Marian and Chef Mark are the best. We hired them to cater our wedding last weekend and are so happy we did. The food was amazing! We had some pretty specific requests (chicken & waffle appetizers, family style pizza as a main course…we love junk food ha!) and not only were they able to accommodate our idea of perfect wedding food…they knocked it out of the park. I had SO many people comment on how great the food was, and nobody went to the dance floor hungry! Marian was a joy to work with on the details & rentals and so incredibly helpful on the day of – she made magic happen with some pretty complicated logistics and I can’t thank her enough. So grateful to have found Joshua Charles Catering!! Their service is great and working with Josh is easy! But, what’s even better is their FOOD!! Just had him cater our first corporate event and will definitely refer him to anyone as well as use him again for future events!

I am so thankful to Joshua Catering for saving my last minute go away party. Our chef was so wonderful and professional. He managed to cook for 30 people all by himself. Isn’t it impressive? He even made us a small tasting plate before our guests arrived to ensure we were happy with the menu. Absolutely loved every dish, I even ate lamb which normally I wouldn’t touch. I wish we discovered JCC much earlier.

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G – and on short notice too! We had a rather sudden need for a caterer for a company event, called on Tuesdayafternoon and had the most incredible passed appetizers cooked in the host’s home kitchen on Thursday evening. That must have been a very lucky break, I can imagine these guys are often booked solid – they ought to be. We had absolutely no issues, the food was amazing, the choices were luscious, the staff was more than accommodating (upon discovering that two of us were vegetarian, the chef created a vegetarian version of one of the items on the spot!). They set up and cleaned up, all without any fuss. Recommend HIGHLY!

I used this caterer for a networking event I planned at an architecture firm in Mountain View. The team knocked it out of the park! From the office team to the BOH manager, Food Prepper & Bartender, each were professional and personable and showed great attention to detail. Many guests were asking about the caterer and were so impressed with the food and service. We were beyond pleased and will definitely use Joshua Charles Catering for future events.

We got married on 9/8/17 at Kohl Mansion. Joshua Charles not only makes AMAZING food, but he also saved our wedding! Our wedding planner totally screwed things up, and we were left without a caterer and a bunch of other issues a month before. After firing our wedding planner and scrambling, Joshua Charles and his wonderful assistant, Marian, stepped up and helped us finish all the details and coordinate the day-of. We couldn’t have done it without them. Seriously! We were serving a vegetarian menu to many guests who had never eaten vegetarian before, so we had to make a good first impression. Joshua listened to the kinds of food we liked and presented us with great options at the tasting menu. The food at the wedding was artfully presented, filling, and delicious. We couldn’t have been happier with it. Many of my guests still talk about it. If Joshua had a restaurant, my husband and I would be frequent visitors.

Joshua Charles Catering is a wonderful catering service. Food was amazing the chief that cooked for us had 17 years in the industry —really knew how to cook an present the meal. The staff that put it all together was really friendly and helpful too! Overall a really great experience.

This is easily the best catering service in the Bay Area. From the initial phone call to the event, they were superb. I initially called about hosting our little one’s first birthday celebration (which had admittedly gotten a bit out of control) and was somewhat apprehensive that it may be below what they were used to catering but Josh could not have been nicer. He helped me put together the perfect menu and even added a few extras for no additional charge. It is worth mentioning that money was almost an afterthought in our discussions, he was more concerned about the execution of the event. The day of, everything was perfect: their delicious food was ready for pick-up on time, everything was beautifully arranged and there was far more food than I anticipated. It was literally a stunning display and his Redwood City Staff could not have been more helpful-offering tips on presentation and last minute preparations. Chef Mark and company’s attention to excellence was truly inspiring and their assistance/nuanced advice was invaluable and a gift from Heaven. In addition to the quality of the food and service, I cannot sufficiently praise their level of professionalism and frank kindness. They are truly a gem on the peninsula.

Heard wonderful things about JCC from a friend, who said the food was not only excellent, but they catered (!) to both small and large parties, matched what you needed, were terrific to work with. We had a medium size celebration in our home, 40-50 people – everything friend said was accurate. Superb food, wonderfully friendly, gracious people, worked seamlessly in the background, went extra mile. Not only were they wonderful to us, but guests commented continually on the food. And such service, from set-up to clean-up. Made our day what it was!

I used this wonderful company for my wedding on 7-21-17. From beginning to end there was just so many wonderful things that I enjoyed; from the food tasting (awesome), food choices, chef who wanted to include those with food allergies, dedicated staff and wonderful accommodations for my elderly and disabled parents. I was told the food was by far the best at a wedding and I must agree. I thought the menu was locked but I was told to try the chicken, and I did. People asked me the day after the wedding if I had more chicken, and of course I didn’t share. Even the rental company, Hensley Event Resources had the best linens, glasses, everything was EXACTLY the way I envisioned it for our wedding. Josh was the best. Marian… I absolutely adore her. If you want class, elegance, and affordability I recommend Josh for any event. We will definitely use them again in the future. Love you guys!!!

I hired Joshua Charles Catering company for a romantic dinner for my wife at my apartment complex. The team was really responsive and help set up everything in 2 days! The chef was really warm, welcoming and made deliciously good food. He added a personal touch to every dish and also got flowers for my wife. Chef Miguel and his team were on time, professional, and left my house cleaner than when they arrived. They were fun to work with and the food was delicious and beautiful. This team was incredible. They did a totally customized setup for our wedding that blew us away at the tasting, and on the night of the event they nailed everything. Marian helped us coordinate and plan all of the food, and her advice was a huge help on other aspects of setup and teardown, too! Amazing service and amazing food. Highly recommend!

I don’t even know where to begin. Marcus and his team were flawless, and the food was exceptional. We used them for 2 Grand Opening events at a luxury apartment complex. Our first event was in the morning, for 40 people, and the team showed up early, made the presentation beautiful, and the food was delicious! They returned in the evening for a passed hors d’ouevres event for 175 people. They were again, early, had done all of their prep work, so they offered their help to me team. They helped us set up tables, the bar, linens, provided towels for us to clean the floor, and even went to their car to get us a phone charger! Who does that!?!?! They looked professional and their entire staff were beyond helpful and friendly. The food was beyond amazing, the residents loved them!! Once the event was finished, Marcus stayed and helped us clean up OUR mess, AFTER he already cleaned up his! He was ridiculously awesome!! We are going to use these guys for 2 events this next month as well, and hopefully for many more to come! They are more than just 5 stars!!!!!!

Joshua Charles Catering has established its name across our organization after the first few corporate catering events they’ve done in our company. Now, even after more than 100 company breakfasts and lunches, everyone looks forward to our events with them! As the point person for all events at a public company in Redwood city, I manage our customer events, sales meetings and management meetings, I can say that they are my favorite caterers. Though they are based in the Foster City area, they never get tired of catering to Redwood City and even to Portola Valley where we usually hold our corporate events. They are very professional, we usually have our breakfast meetings served at 7:30 and they are there at 6:30 am or earlier to set up, sometimes I wonder where they get their energy! They never sacrifice quality despite the short notice or limited resources (I sometimes forget to advise them of what we exactly have in the office) Whether it’s a plated high end dinner for 15 people or a company-wide event for 300 JCC does a phenomenal job every time. Their catering services are always remembered and talked about whenever we hold our events and their chefs are just absolutely lovable with their knowledge and skills they truly provide catering services with science and art! They are very responsive and really care about the overall experience they provide. They add a personal touch and have even taught me how to make a couple of the dishes. They accommodate our complex and wide range of dietary restrictions and food allergies. They understand our company culture and I highly recommend them not just for your corporate catering needs but for all your events!!!

“We are a small winery in Woodside and we wanted to have an extremely high end dinner and wine tasting event for 8 people. These guests were all wine and food professionals from France, so naturally we wanted to show them the very best we could manage. Joshua Charles accomplished everything with an amazing over-the-top preparation, including Chef Mark making a personal trip to Harley Farms, our local cheese producer, to select just the right cheese course. There are lots of caterers, but if you want the very very best, Joshua Charles is the only choice. One other point of note. This was a small intimate dinner situated not too far from the kitchen. The two chefs and the server worked with absolute quiet. No plates clattering, no kitchen shouting, no sound even from the dish washing. Absolute professionalism.”

I chanced upon Joshua ‘a Catering Services on Yelp. I was to host a dinner for 50 people and I was looking for a cuisine that was vegetarian but not Indian. Josh responded to my query promptly and we talked about possibilities . We agreed to have a tasting and voila I was sold! The team at the kitchen Mark, Marian and super chef were not only cordial but very efficient and personable. They also helped with coordinating the rentals like tables, linen, heaters and some cutlery. On the day of: Josh’s staff came in early to set up as per our discussions and everything was performed immaculately ( I call it a performance because that’s how it felt! ) Our guests loved the staff, their charm and composure, their personalities and their efficiency . We just had an event at my home for 25 people. We had some challenges because we intended to have an indoor/outdoor party because our house is not that big for entertaining. Unfortunately, it ended up raining a bit so we had to stay indoors. Joshua Charles Catering reassured me that they would maximize the space in my home and everything would be fine. They were right. With the addition of 2 high top bar tables with gorgeous linens, we made it work. The team arrived early and handled everything. The food was incredible and lots of people raved about it. My husband and I were able to enjoy the party and not worry about a thing. I cannot recommend Joshua Charles Catering high enough and I truly look forward to working with them again in the future. Please go no further. This operation is flawless.

We recently hosted a dinner for about 110 and used Joshua Charles Catering. We were very impressed with the food and their excellent customer service! Marian helped us rent linens, chairs and dinnerware and even helped with the table centerpieces. I was organizing the dinner from across the country so it meant a lot to me that she and Josh were so responsive and helpful. The chef was very accommodating to special dietary needs and preferences (even with a plated dinner) and the food itself was very tasty and we received several compliments!

Amazing experience with this team. Josh was easy to communicate with and presented interesting menu options. Marina was professional and thoughtful in her event consultation. Our on-site chef, Mark and his team, were amazing! They took care of every detail, were personable but professional with our guests and –most importantly –delivered delicious, beautifully presented food that everyone raved about. This review is for a catering that Josh and his team for a corporate event at an office building in Redwood City. We called less than 2 weeks in advance needing fairly extensive services: breakfast and lunch for 30 senior executives for 3 straight days, plus office enhancements (flowers, decorations, additional furniture in some places, updates and accessories to bathrooms, etc. The attendees were a particular group who are used to being treated exceedingly well. We wanted very high end food, tons of choices, excellent service, etc etc. Josh and his team really delivered. They provided full service event planning and coordinated everything. The food was outstanding (tuna tar tar, uni toast, rack of lamb, multiple vegetarian options, fresh made cold pressed juices – this represent maybe 25% of what I ate over the 3 days and everything was delicious). They coordinated a barista and coffee cart which was also spot on. The service was excellent (not overbearing but always quick to take care of any need) and the staff were friendly and professional. We asked Josh and his team to deliver a high-end experience in a business setting on very short and they really made it happen. We’ll definitely be using them again.

Joshua Charles Catering was superb. Their service exceeded my expectations in every way. The food was excellent, and the service phenomenal, but that isn’t even the best thing about them. Without Marian Ashworth, the party planner that works with them, I would have been lost and the party would have been a flop. Marian guided us through parts of the planning that I hadn’t even thought of, performed several site visits to plan set-up, liaised with several of the vendors and worked closely with me on the rest, and most importantly brought her crew to perform hours and hours of decorating. She even helped us cut costs by providing her own supplies where she could to keep us within budget. The food was delicious, the staff was cheerful, the party was a success, I got numerous complements on how it was much better than in previous years, and everything went off without a hitch. All the thanks and praise go to the JCC team, and they were worth every penny at every step of the way. I give them all the stars, and then 5 more.

Just hired Joshua Charles to cater a memorial luncheon for 225 people. The menu selections were fabulous and the food was superb. Joshua was directly involved in the planning and his coordinator, Marian, worked with us on the actual table layout and arrangements. It could not have been better. As an intern, I was assigned the task of planning the firm’s annual dinner party. I must say that Joshua Charles catering made the whole planning process easier. I was pleased that Josh allowed me to be flexible with my menu choices. If I had a specific dish in mind, he was able to put it on the menu. The day of the event, I had the lovely pleasure of meeting his staff. They were all friendly. Our bartender/server provided the best service. He was so friendly and never missed a chance to help someone or offer them a drink. Our guests seemed to really enjoy themselves and the food. My collegue joked that she could smell the delicious truffle oil coming from the mac n cheese. What seemed to impress guests the most was the open grill the caterers used to BBQ the chicken and steak. The guests munched on appetizers while the smell of BBQ excited everyone for the main course. What impressed me the most was that Josh did not hesistate to make last minute changes. I called him the day before the event, and he made a change to the guest list right away. I would recommend his services to anyone. They are happy to work with your budget.

We picked Joshua Charles Catering to cater a 50 person Memorial Service at a private residence, I chose them because of their quick reply time and professionalism. They knew exactly how to assist with this emotional type of event. Marian, the event planner was amazing and took care of all of the details, including the furniture rentals. They were on time and the food was very good, the guests enjoyed it and wanted to know more about them, that says they did an amazing job. My husband asked me to find a catering company that could bring clam chowder and crab legs to a work event he was having with only a few days notice. I went with Joshua Charles catering and was hoping for the best because I knew it would be on me if it didn’t go well… but it was FANTASTIC! We hired Joshua Charles for an office open house event we were hosting for around 220 people. They did a phenomenal job and were extremely attentive to all of the guests by constantly monitoring all of the food and beverages. After contacting (far too) many caterers, we chose Joshua Charles for my daughter’s Bat Mitzvah Celebration in San Francisco on 9/20/14. Now don’t think of this as an event for children, though there were 50 kids, this was just as much of an adult event as it was a children’s celebration! While we were thrilled with the tasting Josh arranged, the actual execution at the event just blew my family and friends away. You never know if the food will be as good when you are serving a lot of guests, as when you have a small tasting. I can honestly say that the quality of the food went far beyond my expectations. We had a very complex menu with 5 different passed appetizers plus tabled appetizers, and multiple choices for entrees. Josh and his staff completely outdid themselves. Not only was the food exceptional, but his staff was impressive, especially his event planner, Marian, who was amazing. She was incredibly attentive before, during, and even after the party. I had some problems with the rentals and she stepped in and got everything rectified for me, even though I had not gone through Joshua Charles for that piece (Never again will I choose to take the rentals on myself, rather than have the caterer do so.) We had a large staff present at the event and each and every individual Josh sent to us was courteous, attentive, professional, and happy to be there. Every single one of my guests asked which catering company I used because they were so impressed with the quality of the food, which we also served to the children (and they loved it). If my father said it once he said ten times that he was blown away by the fact that the kids ate “such sophisticated food.” That’s a true testament to how extraordinary the food was. After having such an extraordinarily perfect experience, I feel compelled to comment on Jamie N’s review. Josh is very clear up front and in his contract (there’s no “small print”) that the staff costs are estimated, will be tallied up after the event, and invoiced once the exact hours are known. We had some additional hours added, which were entirely appropriate, and in hind sight, considering the time his event planner, Marian, actually spent working with me, I think I was undercharged! I have now thrown no less than 14 major events of this caliber in my life (weddings, Bat Mitzvahs, huge holiday parties, etc.), and can honestly state that I will never, ever use anyone but Joshua Charles. Here’s our to die for menu: Passed Hors d’oeuvres: Tuna Poke Spoons with wasabi crema and crisp wonton Butternut Squash Gnocchi in brown butter Beef medallion seared rare and thinly sliced, on baguette crostini with horseradish cream. Forest mushroom strudel with goat cheese and 12 year old balsamic vinegar Bellwether Farm’s Carmody cheese croquettes with membrillo relish Tabled Hors d’Oeuvres: Bruschetta Trio – Mozzarella, Sun Dried Tomato, Pesto Artisinal, local cheeses with house fig compote, candied pecans, walnut bread and breadsticks Buffet: Grilled flat iron steak with black truffle aioli served with baby artichoke and marinated feta salad Grilled Tuscan Chicken with Lemon and Rosemary Caesar Salad Heirloom tomato salad with 15 year old balsamic vinegar micro-farmed basil, summer savory and Parmesan grissini Baby Lettuces Salad with Pine Nuts, Pears, & Chevre Pasta Alfredo with peas and parmesan If you want to impress your guests. Of all days you want to work with the best, your wedding day is the one, and we found that in Joshua Charles Catering. Being horrible procrastinators, my fiancée and I found ourselves just 6 weeks before our wedding still without a caterer. I found Joshua Charles Catering on Yelp, and contacted them immediately based on their high reviews and the sample menus on JOSHUACHARLESCATERING.COM. Josh got back to me right away by email, and thankfully was not only available on our wedding day, but was extraordinarily helpful and said meeting our budget and food ideas would not be a problem. He promptly sent a proposal and got me in touch with his event manager, Marian. I cannot say enough wonderful things about working with Marian. She went out of her way to come to the event site multiple times when we weren’t able to get in the first time, helped design a beautiful space layout and tablescape, coordinated all the rentals, and provided us with great suggestions for the bar. We knew we were in good hands with Marian, and that relieved a tremendous amount of stress. Most importantly, on the day of the wedding, both the food and staff were perfect. Everyone who attended remarked on how delicious the food was, and we appreciated that the staff kept the event moving on the timeline and that they all were cheery and helpful to the guests. I cannot thank Josh, Marian and the catering staff enough for giving us wonderful memories of our reception!

Josh, Kelly, Marian, and the crew took care of my surprise engagement proposal, and did so with simplicity and ease. The best part of working with them was that nothing was secret, they shared all necessary information with me, and kept open communication at all times via email/phone. And…their quote was half of what other similar catering services were offering me at the time. Food was unbelievable and perfectly chosen for the event. I proposed to my (now) fiancé on a sailing yacht, so Josh knew just what would work best in terms of the size of the boat and what could be accommodated. He dispatched his employees to help communicate with the boat owners and had them get in touch with me to tell me everything along the way. There was a lot of stressful planning for my proposal– but Josh and his team wasn’t part of that. They emailed all paperwork, payment, and quotes to me and made life just a little easier during planning. In the end, his employees went along with my surprise so that my fiancé would have no idea what was happening up until the last second. They all played along and had a great time during the surprise. Food was delicious and Kelly made sure to make many rounds so that no one was left with empty hands or champagne glasses. Couldn’t have pulled off this great surprise without their help. We won’t forget it.

The party was a smashing success! It took off like a rocket from the very minute people began to arrive and my children were very grateful for the kosher meals.Did any of your staff take pictures of how pretty everything was with the pink tablecloths? Everyone raved about the food, its flavors, freshness and sheer imagination. Making chicken breast soft and moist is a great art. I only have one complaint: there were too few chocolate bonbons. By the time I went back to find another one they had all been eaten up. Thank you!

“Superb”. Joshua Charles recently catered our wedding and ran everything from food to rentals to service and timing. This sounds understated, but really, the best thing you can say is that everyone raved about the food and didn’t notice anything else. Several people told me it was by far the best food they’d ever had at any catered event (wedding or otherwise), and there were no glitches at all in service or anything else. Joshua was fantastic to work with leading up to the wedding and created an amazing menu (we’re Paleo and don’t eat or serve grains, processed sugars, etc.). Not sure what else to say, other than I’d very highly recommend them, and if they have it available, the lamb is amazing.

From the moment that you walk in the door, the servers are there with trays in hand, doling out their creative goodies. Whether it be butternut squash gnocchi with truffle oil to a mini chocolate torte, their creations will make your mouth sing! I’ve been to 4 parties where they have been the caterer. If tech companies like Flickr know to hire such tasty pros when they have their pick, then you know that they’re doing something good. It’s a pleasure to see the same wait staff at each event. It gives a trusted and personalized touch.

The catering was out of this world. We are still getting gushing compliments on the food. The food was beyond expectations in every way, especially considering we had a remote location without a proper kitchen and staff were working in a tent! Marian was the absolute best – she remained calm, cool and efficient and ensured the entire event went smoothly. She did not forget a thing. I would absolutely hire Joshua Charles again and would highly recommend the food, prior and day of service and bar tending to the most detail oriented customer. I had Josh cater my recent wedding. Josh and his team (Marion in particular) are very well organized and responsive during the planning phase. Found them helpful in suggesting cuisine that matched both my taste and wedding budget. Josh also has a firm grip on the shape and flow of events and is helpful in getting the best out of the space. Food wise – the best compliment I heard was from a guest who felt more like they were eating at a restaurant than at a wedding. The food team utilizes fresh, sourced, high end ingredients and prepares them in an elegant and direct manner. We had a number of passed bites, and then a sit down meal and I would say my highlights from the bites was the polenta and short rib and from the meal our day boat scallop appetizer. Service day of, was professional, timely and unobtrusive. Josh and Marion were both onsite. Thought the bar staff were friendly and warm. We used some of our own plates and silver and t the end of the night the team washed them for us and packaged them up. You only get married once – hopefully – why not have the best?

We used Joshua Charles Catering for a non-profit event that one of our executives hosted. The catering service, food, and people were AMAZING. The food was delicious, especially those mushroom gnocchi spoons and the ahi tuna crisps. The service was fantastic, always something coming out of the kitchen, never a lull in service, and the people were fantastic. They were all so memorable, granted, I never got their names, but they had such fun personalities, and knew exactly what we liked so they came back to us multiple times knowing exactly what our alcohol full stomachs needed We would use them again in a heartbeat as I highly recommend them for any type of event. It seems they’d be great for a wedding as well, and you know how crazy the expectations of a wedding can get!

Apologies for the delayed update: our organization used Joshua Charles Catering for the 2nd year in a row to cater our mondo annual event of 200+. Like Lauren L. said, this isn’t just an outdoors shindig, it’s outdoors tucked away off winding dirt roads, without power, and without running water. Yet despite those challenges, the food is stellar. Really, we’re talking magical here. JCC pulled it off again (was there ever any doubt?) beautifully, professionally, tastefully… I have received nothing but compliments on the food and yes, the service of his entire staff is top of the line: ultra friendly, super helpful, genuine and sincere… simply above and beyond. Clearly, Josh knows his shit, demands the best, and that’s what he and his entire staff delivers… consistently.

This year was my first time heading up catering for our organization’s annual volunteer bash. After reading so many rave reviews on Yelp, I simply HAD to learn more. Not only did Josh call me promptly (just hours after I’d contacted him via email), but following our conversation, he crafted a creative and unique menu to go with our Greek/Mediterranean theme. With just two weeks til judgment day, Josh was on it like no other: he asked all the right questions, and his team arrived prepared. The food came out right on schedule, and Josh’s experience definitely came in handy: his staff kept the food coming and the buffet line moving. Our event was huge (200+) AND it was outdoors with no access to facilities or running water. Nonetheless, Josh and his team made magic happen, with much of the food prepped and cooked fresh on site. We’re still getting compliments.

They were great last time I worked with him, so I hired Joshua Charles Catering to cater another party for me. As before, arranging the event was easy and everything went according to plan. Josh was easy to set things up with, he was responsive, getting me a proposed menu right away and working with me on my suggested adjustments. The entire process of contacting them to getting a final menu and other details worked out took perhaps two days. He and his assistant showed up early, set up in the kitchen, and over the next two hours served a great selection of apps, mains, and desserts. It was easy to arrange, reasonably priced, and the service totally professional. The presentation of the dishes was very nice and most importantly – the food was fantastic. After using them for two events, I still highly recommend Joshua Charles Catering!

Josh was great to work with — he responded to me right away when I contacted him via email and was easy to get a hold of leading up to the event I had hired him for (seriously, this just isn’t the case with all caterers). They showed up on time, set up, and got right to work, they were very professional. And of course, most importantly, the food was excellent! Everyone was snatching up the awesome hors d’oeuvers as fast as Josh was whipping them out! Highly recommended.

Delicious, devine, decadent. Our son’s Bar Mitzvah was a “wow” & Josh & co. were a huge part of the success. He’s organized, attentive, cost effective — and his food is yummy. He will work within your budget, listen to you, and go the extra mile to make your event a success. He also listened to our son, and treated him with great respect. Josh was on site the entire time for both our Shabbat dinner & the Bar Mitzvah, something I really appreciated. I would highly recommend Josh & would work with him again without hesitation. If only we had more than one child we’d be rebooking for the next Bar Mitzvah right now!

I recently experienced JC’s handiwork at an outdoor event for a nonprofit organization. I should emphasize that this was not just an outdoor event, but an outdoor event in a remote location on an open space preserve off Skyline Blvd, with no cooking, refrigeration, or other facilities available to the crew. The food was fresh and delicious–even though, given the above, they would have had to have made it a bit in advance of arriving at the event site. Salads were lightly dressed (which is a huge + in my book) and delicious; mains were flavorful and well-presented. What really pushed me to Star Number Five, though, was the amazing service. Each of JC’s staff members was amazing. I was impressed when they used my name (okay, so I was wearing a nametag, but still) and when they asked–upon my taking of a small portion–if I wanted more. They handled us all professionally and with a smile. If I were hosting a wedding or other large party, I would definitely give these guys a look. That they were able to pull off delicious food for several hundred (ravenously hungry, fresh from hiking/biking/horse-riding) people on a hot day in August in a very remote location was itself an incredible feat.

I’m a food snob, I admit it. I’m hard to impress and discerning as hell because I’ve been fortunate enough to have experienced fine dining on both coasts and in other countries for the past few decades. That being said, I can’t imagine a catering company doing it better than Joshua Charles — everything, from the menu planning process, to the waitstaff, to the food itself (absolutely the star of the evening for my event) was conducted with a level of professionalism and class that was unparalleled — all at a price that won’t break the bank AND is infinitely more memorable than a typical night out at a nice restaurant. Joshua is also very easy to work with and responsive by phone and email. To give you some background — I was working with my husband’s brother-in-law to plan a very special 40th birthday celebration for his wife (my sister-in-law) and 17 of her closest friends/family. He considered renting a private table in some of the Bay Area’s finest dining establishments, including La Folie in SF and Manresa in Los Gatos. But given the audience (all upper middle-class professionals who are also experienced diners), we wanted something truly special and unforgettable. So instead, we brought in JCC, who was recommended to me by my father (JCC had catered his company’s holiday party — a bunch of food scientists, who are probably even more discerning than me!) to La Honda Winery (also 5 stars!) to cater a private dinner that included passed hors d’oeuvres, a 4-course meal, dessert, coffee/tea service, and truffles. The food was beautifully presented and well-portioned — enough to satisfy even the most voracious diner, but not so much that I left feeling stuffed. Most importantly, everything was delectable, from apps of lobster risotto w/ caviar and agnolotti of kobe beef short ribs — talk about party in your mouth with every bite (I’m getting hungry again just thinking about it). For dinner, roasted beet carpaccio w/ beef tenderloin was full of color and gorgeously-plated; the black cod had a perfect sear (crunchy on the outside, melt-in-your mouth buttery on the inside); and the steak a perfect medium rare. The dessert, a sort of deconstructed s’more with molten lava cake, marshmallow cream and homemade graham crackers, was a huge hit. Finally, the waitstaff was extremely pleasant, responsive to every request, and unobtrusive. It’s obvious that JCC takes great pride in its work, and after last Saturday’s event, I’m already looking for another excuse to hire them. I would recommend them in a heartbeat, whether for a small private dinner like mine, or for a larger event, like a wedding (wish I knew about them for my wedding!).

One of the best caterers I’ve encountered in the Bay Area so far. Josh and his staff are talented, accommodating, easy to work with and needless to say – the food is DELICIOUS and so well presented. He did the catering for our company holiday party. He was provided feedback after the first tasting and prepared a second tasting shortly thereafter, completely having understood our requests and expectations. The results were outstanding. Some examples included thai red curry coconut lobster shooter with sweet potato chip, lemon thyme eclairs with new england lobster salad, polenta cups, and three-day braised short rib in a mini puff cup. Just to give everyone an idea how unique he can go. Oh, and his grasshopper bars are to die for. His decor was beautiful as well, together with some flameless votives that set the mood. In short – Josh and his staff will not disappoint you.

From the moment I emailed a request to Joshua Charles Catering to Josh’s call after our event to make sure everything went okay, I have been more than pleased with the level of service I got from Josh and his staff. He was friendly and flexible to work with our needs, he worked within our limited budget, and was very responsive to all of my calls and emails, which was great because we had such a short timeline before the event was to occur (just over a week). He provided an amazing menu, and the day of our event went so smoothly! His staff (Marian & crew) was friendly, easy to work with, efficient, and very very helpful in the set up and take down of the event. And, of course, the food was amazing! We needed classic foods for some very cautious eaters, and he delivered. He came very highly recommended to me from a local event planner, and I can see why. Stop looking and book him. You won’t be sorry.

Yes, Josh and his crew did a fabulous job with our spur-of-the-moment holiday dinner party! He came over to help us plan with just a few days notice, and let me tell you: the resulting dinner was such a success that our guests may have thought we’d been working on it for weeks. Everyone raved about the food (seriously, far better than anything we could have ordered had we gone out to a restaurant …), and the presentation was impressive. So convenient to have such a freshly prepared meal straight out of our kitchen (which he and his staff cleaned quickly and meticulously before leaving) … More about the food: I did not really know what to expect (for me, whenever someone else is doing the cooking, I generally tend to enjoy … ), but the flavors of this meal were truly out of this world. My husband so loved the baby green salad that he asked for seconds (and this was no problem at all … the chef just whipped up another plate). And the rack of lamb was simply amazing. Josh also accommodated our non-carnivore guests with what one described as the best sea bass she had tasted! Portions were perfect (everyone cleaned their plates and walked away more than satisfied), and the cobbler dessert was just enough sweet to perfectly finish the meal without being over the top. I was also amazed by how professional and friendly Josh’s staff was. We had a small space to work with, and twelve guests mingling about … Josh and his people wandered effortlessly about, making sure every detail was taken care of while somehow managing to not contribute to the chaos. All night they worked hard to ensure that the hostess did not have to … I enjoyed every moment of the dinner party and I have Josh and his crew to thank.

I’ve had a Yelp account for many years, but never felt compelled to write a review until now. Joshua Charles Catering gets my FIRST posting! Very well deserved… I attended an event they catered a few weeks prior, and thought the food was absolutely spectacular. My girlfriends and I found ourselves hanging out near the kitchen entrance, waiting to see what new creations came out. The pulled pork was so yummy! I met Josh, and told him how delicious everything was. The dishes were unique and so, so tasty! He invited me to their Winter Tasting– as I hold private client events every so often, and thought I would check out the menu. During the car ride down, I was talking to my friends about another gourmet caterer that had done an absolutely awesome job with a friend’s pre-Thanksgiving party in Nob Hill last year. In fact, I thought that was the BEST catering I’d ever had. We were remembering how juicy the turkey was, and how it melted in your mouth. We just couldn’t remember the name of the caterer, but we were hoping that JCC would be just as good. To my surprise— I ran into that same friend who hosted the pre-Thanksgiving dinner at the Winter Tasting event! You guessed it… he had used Joshua Charles Catering! What a small world, to find out that they were one in the same. 5 Stars just isn’t enough to rate their food and wonderful service!

I highly recommend joshua Charles Catering. He provided us with top-notch amuse-bouches for a birthday party on a very short notice. Josh was very flexible and pleasant to work with, extremely creative and came up with exactly the savors and tastes we were looking for. I just got married at the end of Aug and I had to come to YELP to review some the vendors that I used. I found the majority of my vendors on YELP and I am very fortunate that I found Joshua Charles Catering. I would say that I was a very detailed, organized and involved bride with high expectations. Josh and his team were able to partner with me and make my event very special. From the beginning with the planning, rental selection, menu selection, determining the time line and finally the wedding day, Josh’s advice and input helped make my garden chic wedding come true. We had our event in our back yard, yet it did not feel like a backyard BBQ. The food was yummy and the staff was very professional. Our guests are still talking about the food and service that JCC provides. Josh and his team know what they are doing and I highly recommend their services. Joshua Charles catered our wedding this past June. In looking for a caterer, we wanted someone who could produce high-quality Californian food for 200 guests, and their food was head and shoulders above anyone else we looked at. Each course (and the appetizers too) was very well executed and our guests loved it. Fresh, well prepared, and super-tasty. What more can you ask for. Would definitely use them again!

I have had the pleasure of enjoying Joshua Charles’ hors d’oeuvres on several occasions. His hors d’oeuvres are obviously made with the best ingredients because you can really taste all of the flavors. I also love that his appetizers are literally bite sized, which is imperative when you’re standing, chatting and holding a glass in your other hand at a cocktail party. A lot of caterers seem to ignore this detail when they create hors d’oeuvres that are too large to be gracefully and politely consumed in a single bite.

Josh catered (with short notice) a wonderful baby shower this weekend. The food was delicious and I received many compliments. I’ve used Josh before and continue to be impressed with his food selections, staff professionalism and how easy he is to work with– I wouldn’t hesitate to work with his team again.

We had a cocktail hour where hors d’oeuvres were passed and a sit down reception for 260+ people. It is a high achievement to be able to serve such a large crowd with consistently excellent food and service, but our family and friends have continued to rave about the amazing food as one of the highlights of the evening. I’m still dreaming about the Caribbean braised beef short ribs in the mini puff pastry cup (one of our appetizers)…my favorite. But seriously, I am not exaggerating that everything was delicious, on top of being beautifully presented! I highly recommend JCC to anyone looking to make an event special, as well as reduce the overall stress of planning. Josh worked hard for us on a menu/event that was beautiful and unforgettable. I called Josh with about 10 days notice to cater a party at my home for about 80 guests. We wanted low key and he was able to customize a menu to fit our needs. We did a heavy hors d’oeuvre menu along with kids selection. Got lots of compliments on the mini roast beef sandwiches. Staff was very friendly. Four stars because food was very good, much better than typical catered event I would say, but not necessarily memorable. Five stars for overall event, my peace of mind. UPDATE: increased to five stars now as I have had multiple people compliment the food unprompted!

Getting married in 19 days and my caterer for our wedding welcome cocktail hour decides to call us and say she’s doubled booked… You can imagine how livid we were. I jumped on Yelp and found J.C.C. and was blown away on how fast I was contacted, given an array of menu options, and quoted. Nothing but professionalism, promptness, and eagerness to help. FANTASTIC!

My company recently moved to the Bay Area and needed a caterer for two events. The first was a cocktail reception for industry folks, and the other was our company’s Christmas party. We hired JCC for both events and were thrilled at the food, service and attention we received. Josh did a walk through at our office prior to the first event and made sure we had a good flow for the parties. He then coordinated the entire event for us, from rentals to the menu and staffing. His staff set up, tore down, and cleaned up perfectly. I was so thankful to have all of the logistics just handled by his team – as the hostess, I didn’t have to worry about anything! Plus, Josh made sure that I got to eat during the event between running around and greeting people. When he noticed there was no music, he kindly reminded me that we had forgotten to turn on the speakers, helping us get the party revitalized. The food was excellent for both parties. It was fresh, flavorful and received many compliments from guests. Both hot and cold foods were excellent, and the handmade desserts were amazing. Josh worked within our budget so that we knew what we were getting into. Unlike other caterers I’ve worked with, Josh never pressured us to do anything we didn’t want, and never tried to upsell us on something unnecessary. He was a true gentleman and someone that we trusted to do the job right. We’re really picky, detail oriented people, so we appreciated Josh’s immaculate attention to detail. We will hire Josh for all of our events in the future, hands down.

I attended an event last weekend that was catered by Joshua Charles. I had heard good things, but my expectations were low, as most caterers I’ve tried in the area have been mediocre. All I can say is WOW. The staff was super professional, the presentation was lovely and best of all the food was incredible. I would highly recommend using Joshua Charles for any event. Their attention to detail was superb. I can’t wait to use them for my own event.

I took a complete chance on Josh. I had never tasted his food or heard of him until I found him on the web and read the yelp reviews. He was GREAT. He responded to me quickly and professionally, worked with the budget I had set for my dad’s birthday. The day of the party he showed up on time, the food was great and everyone loved the hors d’heurves. The 2 people helping him were also very good. I would highly recommend working with him if you are looking for an experienced, professional caterer, with great food to boot.

Joshua Charles did a great job with our wedding – they were easy to work with and had very helpful, knowledgeable suggestions. A certain amount of proactive follow-up was required on our part, but on the wedding day, they were capable, friendly, accommodating and the food was great. Our guests were stunned by the variety and excellence of the food. The staff was competent, efficient and most importantly, open and friendly. All went as planned. My review for Josh is long overdue. I have run an annual event for a local non-profit each spring for the last seven years… and I went through four different caterers before I found Josh. Once I found Josh, I knew that I didn’t have to worry about the food and logistics of this part of my (all-day, super-stressful) event any longer. When you hire Josh, you can be sure that your servers will be on-time and professional, the food will be outstanding, presentation beautiful, and that your guests will leave happy and with a good impression of your organization. Plus, his prices are extremely reasonable. I cannot recommend Josh highly enough for helping make my event run smoothly.

I would normally not do this but we used Joshua Charles caterer for our Senior Dinner in May and our Graduation in June and they were FANTASTIC. The presentation was awesome and we received so many compliments from parents on the taste and quality of the food. We had 800+ attendees at our ceremony and the caterers were very easy to work with. They were extremely accommodating. They specialize in wonderful food from local and organic farmers utilizing methods of sustainable agriculture so this is why we selected them for our Senior Dinner in May as well as our Graduation Ceremony on Sunday. I highly recommend this caterer. You will not be disappointed–at all!!

What a birthday party! 60 people at a winery on the Peninsula. The space was great for a sit down dinner and the music was wonderful for dancing…but the food! Oh Wow! Wonderful passed appetizers- the hamachi was absolutely amazing, oysters, mini potato pancakes, too many to list and dinner was even more amazing. JCC is a great catering company. I have been lucky enough to be at a few events the company has catered and the food is consistently wonderful, the staff is incredibly responsive, the service is smooth, friendly and unobtrusive. Josh recently catered a small birthday dinner for me. We chose Josh because his menus online looked amazing and the pricing seemed reasonable, and we do not regret our choice. I cannot say enough good things about Josh and his team as well as the food experience. Everyone who worked with me was great – Josh himself, Marian who did the site visit, and our chef Scott. Josh was so responsive and organized! Every time I contacted him by phone or email, he got back to me within minutes! After my initial request for proposal, he sent over a sample menu and pricing right away. Our chef was also great – he executed every dish perfectly. The presentation as well as the taste were impeccable. A 5-star dining experience at home! Thank you, Josh! Would definitely use them again!

Use Josh Charles for your next event! My wedding was one month ago and Joshua Charles catered the reception and they did an absolutely incredible job. I don’t know where to begin because everything from every step along the way and every detail were amazing. And they are more than just delicious beautiful food, the event coordinating service was my life saver! Thank you, Marian! Starting with the tasting, my now-husband and I were sold. What Josh told us about his philosophy of food, cooking and presentation let us know that we would be in good hands and working with like-minded food lovers. Just make sure you don’t miss their almost hidden entrance. Marian was my event coordinator and she helped me plan the whole thing which was no small feat for me who has zero experience in planning a party for 170 people. After many many meetings, emails and phone calls, we had everything set to go the week of the wedding and by the day of the wedding, I had relinquished all control of the execution of all of the details and Marian carried everything off without a hitch. If there were any hitches, I was blissfully unaware and felt totally taken care of and able to enjoy my party without worrying about a thing! Due to our formal picture obligations, we missed out on the passed hors d’hoeuvres but everyone said they were great. And the dinner was so delicious that we actually broke tradition and ate every last bite of food instead of talking to all of the tables. Seriously, they helped make my wedding day the best day of my life. Hire them immediately for your next event!!

Well, last weekend was my 1 year wedding anniversary. All my husband and I wanted was to eat the same delicious meal that we enjoyed on our wedding day! We contacted Josh and he went above and beyond to deliver! We are so so so so glad that we used Joshua Charles Catering for our wedding one year ago and are even happier to have gotten to eat this delicious food again! Joshua Charles Catering is not only the BEST food we could find, they also have the BEST customer service! We were so lucky to find this company! First the food: Joshua Charles catered my wedding and I am 110% happy with their work!! First the food: WOW!! We did a tasting before booking them and it was one of the best meals we have had in a long time! We booked them that night! When people talk about our wedding, everyone talks about how great the food was… how it wasn’t like typical “wedding food.” We loved everything that they made: from the delicious appetizers (our faves were the gnocchi spoons and the pancetta wrapped shrimp) to the amazing main course (we can’t even pick a favorite — but we got a lot of compliments on the steak, the salad and the asparagus) to the dessert bar (chocolate mousse was raved about!) We are already planning on ordering food from them for our 1 year anniversary! Next, their event planner Marian: Marian was AMAZING!! She worked with me to keep our event within our budget. She shopped rental companies and found the best one with the best prices. She gave me valuable tips and worked very well with my wedding planner and all of the vendors. She was so nice and thorough! I would definitely want her to help me with any other large event I was planning!!

I’m a true foodie and rarely give anyone 5 stars. However, Joshua Charles is one of those exceptions. I attended a party over the holidays in which every body raved about the delicious bites which were presented buffet style at a cocktail party. Every bite I sampled was remarkably tasty compared to the usual catered, “grown up” party. The truffle popcorn with param cheese was a wonderful surprise paired with great wine. When asked to plan my friend’s 50th at my house, I tracked down Joshua Charles and was sold the minute I met Josh and staff as well as the Winter tasting menu available on their website. The party was beautifully executed. It was a formal sit down dinner for 40. The evening began with appetizer plates followed by a 4 course wine tasting dinner. My guest were delighted at each beautifully presented dish. Everything was plated beautifully and was fresh, seasoned just right, and tasted as good or better than any farm to table type restaurant. The Sturgeon fish floating in an aromatic broth delicately scented with African spices over pear size couscous followed by a duo of roasted lamb and white bean and sausage served by a professional staff, made the entire evening memorable. The cheese course with homemade chutney was just enough to leave you wanting just one more bite. I received so many thank you notes from guest who continued on commenting how wonderful the food was. It was so much better than attempting to go to a high end restaurant. Another huge bonus, the party took very little effort to pull off thanks to Joshua Charles and his staff who thought of every detail. From bread baskets to how to handle a last minute dietary request and a few hungry kids we had forgot to feed. Can’t wait to plan another party with Josh and his crew.

Joshua Charles catered two events back to back at our home in January. He was very flexible with changes and extremely responsive with emails and follow up phone calls. His staff reflected the same professionalism. Marian oversaw the menu choices and rentals with great attention to detail. Her enthusiasm and commitment helped the process seem less stressful and more eventful. The chefs and server were skillful and polished. They were very flexible and accommodating. The food was excellent with great presentation. It was all better than we hoped for. We would definitely use Joshua Charles Catering again and highly recommend him to all of our friends.

We reached out to a few caterers for our wedding and Joshua Charles Catering was the most friendly and responsive, and also more affordable than many of the other caterers we researched. We immediately had a great feeling about them. Our tasting was delicious! However, I know that when it comes to cooking in bulk, the food never tastes as good as it does at the tasting. And having a bunch of foodie friends from NYC, SF and LA, I figured we wouldn’t win the award for best wedding food but as long as we gave them variety and kept them full, then I would be okay with that. Turns out, throughout the night, a lot of people kept raving about how good the food was. One friend told me that he never expects wedding food to be that good, but that our food was really great. People went on and on about the chicken pot pie (which ironically was something we just added as an afterthought). And my personal fav was the savory bread pudding. I was so pleasantly surprised and happy to hear that our guests enjoyed the food that much. And the most impressive part is that they did all this in a makeshift kitchen that they set up outside the event space. AMAZING!

We planned a small wedding only 6 weeks before the actual date, and I can’t begin to tell you how many compliments we’ve received on Joshua Charles Catering: the food, Marian (the manager), and the staff! Not only were both Joshua and Marian responsive, but they were willing to execute the details – from arranging the rentals, to managing my “surprise” entrance, to setting the beautiful tables, to carrying amazing service through the entire evening. The staff were lovely, polite, personable, and discreet. I have complete confidence in them and I would work with this talented team again in a heartbeat!

We just used Joshua Charles for a small (30+ people) cocktail party (heavy apps and drinks). The lead-up to the event was very professional, and the menu suggestions were terrific. The food was incredible, could go toe to toe with any restaurant serving comparable dishes anywhere and win. Even so, the service managed to outshine the food. I mentioned how much I loved the aioli that came on the Mahi-Mahi sliders, Guney whipped up extra, gave some to me in a bowl for dipping and put some in my fridge for me to have for later. A friend of mine forgot to bring candles for the cake as requested and asked the caterers if they had any (which is clearly a long shot but didn’t even seem like it at that point given how prepared they had proven themselves to be), they said no but they would figure something out. Unbeknownst to us, Guney drove to a nearby 7-11 and purchased candles for the cake. When someone finished their food, Bellinda was right there ready to take their plate or spoon or trash before they even had to think about it. Never hovering, just always attentive. This made the post-party clean up SO much easier. Without question, I will use Joshua Charles Catering for any future catering needs and will specifically request Guney & Bellinda to work our parties!

Based on great Yelp reviews I hired Joshua Charles sight unseen. I had a sense that they had a wonderful aesthetic based on the design of their website and the descriptions of menu items. I called other caterers at the same time who did not get back to me as quickly as JCC. I was thrilled that they could accommodate my party without months of advance booking. Every item I picked from the menus was just right. All the guests raved and I, who can be pretty damn picky, was impressed as well. The staff was quick, unobtrusive and thorough. The chef and sous chef took over my kitchen and whipped everything up in record time. Just as the last guests were hanging out around the fire table, the JCC staff quietly pulled out with not a hint of party anywhere–reminded me of the ending to the ‘Cat in the Hat’ !! The trick now is coming up with a reason to hire them again very soon!

First of all, the Joshua Charles website says, “Please offer us a brief description of the services you are seeking and we will respond immediately.” They got back to me in less than 12 hours! The experienced and responsive service continued from there, helping to plan a family dinner celebrating my mother’s 85th birthday! The JCC “team” arrived at our house, set a beautiful table, and graciously served a fabulous meal. Perfect! I am looking forward to the 86th birthday!

We just had a company event at East Bay BMW in which Joshua Charles Catering did their magic. The food was amazing and the service was excellent. Very friendly staff. Extremely organized. I am sure we will see them again!

Joshua Charles provided excellent service and food for our party of 30 guests. Joshua promptly replied to my email with a phone call and worked with me to tailor the event to my needs. It was my goal to provide an evening of delicious food as a ‘present’ to our friends. Our friends LOVED the food and the friendly service. I really appreciated the professional event planner who Joshua assigned to us. She scoped out the house to ensure everything would be planned and executed perfectly. She ordered, picked up and set up tables, table setting and everything we needed. I had complete confidence in her so I was able to relax and enjoy the party. The chef was willing to accommodate the diet requirements of our guests and was able to provide for last minute additional guests. My daughter found Joshua Charles on Yelp, great reviews and local. We got other quotes but decided to go with Josh because all his numbers were included i.e. linens, serving supplies, gratuities, etc .They did a birthday party for my wife at Club Fox in Redwood city with 130 guests last Thurs. I could not have been more pleased. The food was great, presentation was great ,and his help was superb. Joshua was there to make sure everything was in order. His manager Marian was wonderful in making sure everything was just right. At the end of the night I felt like I had made new friends ,not just found my caterer.

My husband and I hired Joshua Charles Catering for our recent wedding at the Bently Reserve in San Francisco. We owe much credit to Josh and his staff including Marian Ashworth and Lisa Tresmontan for pulling off a flawless wedding. We spent countless hours researching, meeting, and negotiating with different caterers, and no one came close to treating us with the level of customer service and respect that Joshua Feinbloom (owner) did. Joshua Charles provided us with a classic yet contemporary menu that we are still getting complements on from our guests. We also used his company for day of coordination, and we worked specifically with Marian and Lisa. Marian oversaw the execution of setup and coordinating with our 10+ vendors; she was so professional, easy to work with, and kept us at ease throughout the planning process. She was extremely patient through all our questions and the level and stage at which she became seriously involved in the process really pleasantly surprised us (months before the wedding). Lisa managed all aspects related to the bridal party, making sure everyone was where they needed to be during the different parts of the day, coordinated my [the bride’s] multiple wardrobe changes, and saw to many other activities that needed to take place. I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone so calm yet in control every minute of the way. Because of Josh and his team, we had an entirely worry-free wedding. None of our family or friends had to break away to manage any issues and instead everyone could focus on being with one another and enjoying themselves. We are so glad to recommend Joshua Charles Catering for your event. You will get amazing food, and if your experience is anything like ours was, they will be reliable, super friendly, and enjoyable to work with.

We had the pleasure of working with Joshua Charles for my daughter’s birthday party. The staff was wonderful. With one pre-visit, they helped us plan out the set up and the timing of various courses so that we know what to expect on the day of the event. They put together a fabulous bbq menu with great kids’ options (much of it eaten by the adults!) and adult options. They also dealth directly with the party rentals vendor, which saved us a lot of time. Our guests really enjoyed the food, and the service was wonderful. I would wholeheartedly recommend them!

JCC catered our wedding reception in August 2011 and it was absolutely delicious. Weddings in San Francisco are often very expensive, and initially, we spent a lot of time trying to persuade SF caterers down in cost, to no avail. When we contacted Josh, however, was more than willing to work with our budget and was undaunted that our venue didn’t have a proper kitchen. SF is a foodie town, and we knew our guests would be expecting something different and delicious. JCC delivered. For our reception, we had four appetizers: handmade pizettas, spiced lamb mini flatbreads, grilled cheese, and braised short ribs in a puff pastry. Because our reception started at 7:30pm, many guests were already hungry and were able to snack as soon as they arrived to our venue. When my husband and I walked in about 45 minutes later, JCC had set aside several apps for us to ensure we wouldn’t be left out. So thoughtful and very appreciated! For the salad course, we chose the heirloom tomato salad, which was refreshing. Then, for dinner, we had pancetta-wrapped beef tenderloin and the halibut, which is some of the best halibut I’ve ever tasted. Both meals somehow tasted even better than they did during our tasting. We also had a few veggie/vegan guests, and the corn and chantrelle mushroom risotto was a huge hit—not the usual boring “roasted vegetables” vegetarian option. The people at JCC are professional, yet down-to-earth, and they love food—a fantastic combo. Josh was patient and his food was delicious—the servings are fresh and good-sized. Marian, Josh’s assistant, is also wonderful. She replies to emails quickly, will help you find dishes/serveware to fit your budget, and is both positive and flexible (she stayed the extra hour after we decided to extend our reception to keep the party going). The staff was also excellent. They paid immediate attention to the bride and groom (and our drinks), but also to our wedding party and families. Dinner was seamless and delicious, and we could not have asked for a better caterer.

Josh and his team catered a 50 person surprise party I threw for my husband for his 40th birthday. They did an amazing job and I will use them on any future event, whether it be for work or personal. The food was incredible and his whole team was outstanding. They were fully booked the Saturday night I needed him, but he found a way to fit us in. Despite being fit in, his team made me feel like my event was their most important one of the night. I’ll recommend them to all my friends and colleagues. They really took care of everything.

Joshua helped our company when we lost one of our most beloved managers. We were on a tight budget, and he worked closely with me to tailor a menu for the memorial, AND delivered the food when he was short staffed. I have actually never posted for anyone previously, but I have hired Joshua Charles on two occasions and they have both been home runs. All the staff are professional and prompt, & make sure to ask about my preferences on presentation. The guests have always devoured the food, and left excited about the culinary experience they just had. I am not a foodie, but am particular about what I like. They hit the bulls eye!

Joshua Charles catered our Junior-Senior prom. The food served was incredible and the service was extremely attentive. Joshua Charles was very adaptive to our needs. Joshua Charles was willing to adhere to our limited budget and when we had a last minute furniture arrangement crisis, Joshua came to our rescue. Without that last minute help from Joshua Charles, our prom would have surely been a disaster. On the subject of food, this catering company provided us with a delicious array of appetizers and main courses, ranging from braised pork belly lettuce cups to delicious sliders. I wholeheartedly recommend using Joshua Charles, and I certainly will in the future.

We hired Joshua Charles for our high school prom this year. They worked with us for months in advance, customizing a delicious menu to fit our event and budget. I was impressed by all of the options they presented us, even though we had limited funds. While we struggled to select choices (they all looked too tasty to choose!), we ultimately decided on dishes such as the brie burger and pork belly lettuce cups. Every appetizer, entree, and drink they made exceeded all of my expectations. And, judging by all the complements I’ve heard from students, their delicious food was a large factor in the success of our prom. The night of the prom, Joshua Charles set up all of our furniture even though it wasn’t in their contract. That is just one example of their professional and helpful attitude throughout our time working with them. I would definitely recommend Joshua Charles Catering to anyone in need of great food and service.

We hired Joshua Charles for our high school prom this year at Crystal Springs Uplands School. Their service was stellar, the was incredible, and they were extremely helpful. Joshua was always willing to help out and adhere to our budget. The day of the event, our furniture service dropped off the furniture, but did not set it up. Joshua Charles willingly set up all of the furniture for us, saving our event. When it came to food, Joshua Charles was equally impressive. We had a small-plates styled meal with appetizers. Joshua provided servers to walk around with appetizer plates at the beginning of the event. These plates were highlighted by a delicious slice braised pork belly on a piece of lettuce. Everyone in attendance also loved the main courses, which consisted of a variety of dishes including mini-cheese burgers and fries, macaroni and cheese, and a great Asian salad. We were all extremely impressed with Joshua Charles.

Food = DELICIOUS, Pretty, Quality! Staff = Professional, personable, and wonderful to work with – very nice. Joshua = Knows what he is doing and terrific to work with, flexible, upfront, a good guy. I had never tried this caterer or knew of anyone that had used them in the past, and I do quite a bit of event coordination and work with many caterers. However, I hired Joshua Charles Catering for a work retirement party that took place just this week and would do it again in a heart beat. I will say their price point might be slightly, just slightly, higher than others, but it is so well worth every penny for the outstanding job they do and the quality of food and service they provide. Most everyone that attended the party stated the food was superb and asked who the caterer was. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I get the assignment to organize my work holiday party and if I do, I will immediately contact Joshua Charles Catering and hire them as the event caterer!

Josh catered my son’s bar mitzvah, and my mother, the pickiest person ever, said she could not find a single fault! High praise indeed. Food was amazing, and the service impeccable. I think Josh’s food is what really makes his company stand out. My LA foodie friends asked if he could come to LA! Josh was easy to work with, and is going to get the rest of Bar Mitzvah business from my family: two more to go.

Every instance we’ve used Joshua Charles Catering as been wonderful. Every opportunity I’ve been a guest at an event catered by Joshua Charles Catering has been wonderful. The experience all around has been good. The staff is friendly and professional. They work hard (I’ve seen behind the scenes but give the guests an experience of wonderful food with top notch customer service. I couldn’t even tell you which food item was the best. Everything has been yummy. (Even the steak and I don’t actually normally like steak.)
